Florida school shooting survivors just revealed why they didn’t go to Trump’s gun meeting

- Februari 21, 2018

Since the shootings at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, a remarkable group of survivors has turned into an activist force determined to ensure that no one has to face the situation that they found themselves in, mourning 17 of their classmates and teachers slain by an AR-15 assault rifle.

Appearing on news programs, traveling to the state capital to lobby recalcitrant Republican legislators who would rather enact bans on pornography than any restrictions on deadly weapons, calling out NRA lobbyists and the Republican beneficiaries of their campaign donations by name, a number of the students have gained a measure of fame and name recognition with their high-profile efforts to force change.

The success of their attempts so far to bring attention to their entreaties for stricter gun control legislation is obvious from the backlash they’ve received from odious right-wing trolls who are now trying to claim that these brave and intelligent students are paid actors or are being paid and manipulated by shady left-wing operatives paid by George Soros.

This group of students, while just the front line in a broad-based coalition of students from around the country who are tired of inaction on laws that can save their lives and are demanding action be taken by the government to restrict access to guns, has become so identified with the movement that their names are now familiar to the people who see them on Twitter, Facebook, and cable news outlets like CNN and MSNBC.

Emma Gonzalez, David Hogg, Cameron Kasky, Alfonso Calderon, Jaclyn Corin, Sarah Chadwick, and their other classmates, who named their activist group “Never Again” after a slogan used by holocaust survivors, have been amongst the students who have gained national attention with their addresses at rallies, interviews on TV, and appearances with government officials.

Yet that fact that none of these “Never Again” activist students were among the survivors sitting in the White House with President Trump today raised the pressing question as to why these most articulate and committed students were absent.

Now one of the students has revealed the reason.

The White House obviously doesn’t want the President to be overshadowed by teenagers who are smarter, more articulate, and more knowledgeable about the dangers of unregulated semi-automatic assault rifles than he  himself is.

That’s why they stacked the deck at today’s public relations stunt by only inviting pre-screened Trump supporters to the “listening session” where Trump will only get to hear what he wants to hear without those pesky student activists shouting their gun control propaganda at him, a fact confirmed by the students who did attend the President’s staged PR event according to this Twitter thread.

Despite the President’s personal cowardice in not having the guts to face the teens who have been on TV criticizing him and the Republican party for their moral bankruptcy in their slavish devotion to the NRA, the American people will still get to hear from the activist teens when they participate in the CNN town hall on gun violence tonight.

You can be sure that Trump will be watching something else, probably on Fox News.
