A Florida school massacre survivor just signed something that has Trump cowering

- Februari 20, 2018

Today, with teenage Parkland massacre survivors present, the Florida House voted against a ban on military-grade assault weapons like the AR-15 used in last week’s massacre and so many mass shootings.

After this afternoon’s devastating blow, Emma Gonzalez — the brave young survivor who called “BS” on Republican lawmakers who choose NRA funding over children’s lives — tweeted a picture that spoke volumes about the future she and her peers intend to create as a result of last week’s shooting.

The photo featured Mary Stoneman Douglas High School junior and fellow #NeverAgain founder, Cameron Kasky, registering to vote.

The young Ms. Gonzalez, wrote, “If one good thing happened today, its [sic] that @cameron_kasky registered to vote at our very own Parkland library . . .”

Referring to Kasky’s expression of rage and defiant determination, Gonzalez added, “I managed to catch his face at Just [sic] the right moment.”

In the wake of last week’s devastating and avoidable mass shooting that killed 14 children and 3 teachers, Kasky, Gonzalez, and their Parkland peers have ignited the #NeverAgain movement, calling out the Republican Party’s inaction on gun control.

After the massacre, Kasky eloquently told Anderson Cooper what he expects of lawmakers.

This morning, Democratic Rep. Kionne McGhee asked for a procedural move to consider a measure banning assault rifles and large capacity magazines.

The Parkland, Florida students looked on from the gallery as the motion was denied by the majority-Republican House by a 36 to 71 margin. Republicans control the chamber by 76 to 41.

Per the AP, “McGhee said that means the bill would be dead unless the House voted to remove it from the committees and let it be considered by the full House.”

“President” Trump, meanwhile, signed an executive order last year, reversing Obama-era restrictions intended to prevent mentally ill people from accessing weapons.

Parkland is the 59th mass shooting at or near a school this academic year.

Americans stand appalled with the inaction of Republicans in Washington who would rather defend the NRA than their own constituents.

In the upcoming November midterm elections, a fierce, brilliant generation led by students like Gonzalez and Kasky, will show Trump and his Republican Party what their spineless inaction gets them.
